Clos [pronunciation: klowe, rhymes with toe]
A vineyard enclosed by a wall that creates a specific microclimate in the vineyard. In the past, all of the clos were walled, but over time and through political upheaval in the region in the past, some of those walls have come down. However, the vineyard might still be called “Clos X or Clos Y.”
