Pétillant Naturel (aka Pét-Nat)

Pétillant Naturel [pronunciation: pe-ti-yan na-tu-rel]

Translates to “naturally bubbling.” Pétillant Naturel is made with the old method of producing sparkling wines that do not undergo a second fermentation process where additional yeast and sugar is added. Instead, pét-nats are bottled while the primary fermentation process is still underway, resulting in a cloudy sip with light bubbles– they tend to have a rustic vibe and are corked with a crown cap instead of the mushroom cork we commonly associate with Champagne and many other sparkling wines.
